Inverness to Faugh

What a long but beautiful drive. We were up and waiting in Dining room at 8 for breakfast. Breakfast was amazing as the B and B except for a s one it kept us going till 7 this evening. Left around 9 and went towards Dingwall a place close to Paul the home of his ancestors. A delightful town expected to stay half hour but 2hours later left to travel to Loch Ness it was such a beautiful place no sign of the monster but just rolling hills with the hint of heather and of course water falls asending down the hills.

As we passed through Loch LInnhe we were in massive traffic jam couldn't work out the problem and as the car in front moved off we where confronted by a very old man on a motor scooter! He certainly wasn't fazed by anything just waved as we passed. Reminded me of the man on the Tasman Bridge.

We stopped at Bealy for toilet stop and finally passed through the outskirts of Glasgow to arrive at Faugh just out of Carlisle in the county of Cumbria around 6.30 this evening.

What a delight it is so peaceful a little out of town with most magnificent history and the String of Horses didn't let us down as we arrived as a Horse and cart was pulled up to the front door.

Met for GIn and tonic in Paul and Joans room before going to the Dining room.

The meals were oh oh so nice I had a Marocon Lamb tagine. So spicy and nice.

Tomorrow we are going to Plymouth before going to Warick for 3 days to catch up with my relatives - grave yard stuff although today we followed a truck how had on the rear the name Slater. The owners of the Hotel are Colin and Jill Ramsay I am wondering if they are relatives of my cousin?

Till tomorrow I say goodnight.

Dundee to Inverness

Omg when downloading my photos from today I pressed the wrong button and lost the lot I am so cross with myself. We had had such a beautiful drive from Dundee to Inverness and had been snap happy all the way. We had gone to St. Andrews golf course and taken photos for Richard and taken such good shots of Monadhliath Mountains, and Blair Athol, and some of Inverness but will repeat those quickly tomorrow morning. We have such a drive tomorrow through to Carlisle approx 400kil.

Last night at Dundee and today at Inverness the accommodation as been the best we have had. Took some photos but as you know that is another story. Our vehicle is performing well and slips along nicely. Paul does most of the driving while Elizabeth acts as navigator along with Sheila (the GPS)
We gave her the name on the first day and whilst on occasions she has been a little troublesome and consistently tells Paul to slow down she is certainly helping to get us around this great country.

Joan(Pauls wife), Shirley and I sit in the back and enjoy the country side.
We certainly have aplenty to keep us busy on the way.

I will endeavor to include a couple of photos from past days as I close till next time.

Edinburgh to Dundee

Well back again -finally got into our booked accommodation in Edinburgh for the second night it was a very nice 3bedroom,3bathroom, 4toilet apartment very close to the action. Gave us time to catch up with washing etc as had wonderful facilities.
The owner of the apartment has transposed phone number and we kept getting engaged signal but he gave it to us on second night for nothing!

This morning we left by 10 and headed to Dundee via Perth. Another beautiful place and was introduced to my first Marks and Spencer experience. Still trying to buy a 3G prepaid for iPad. Wi fi in accommodation is hopeless have to log on to spectrum and usely costs 5pound for 1hr soon goes.

Just had a nice meal in adjoining restaurant and now I am in the lap of luxury in my king size bed plus single on my own as I haunt found my man in a kilt yet or at least one that comes up to my standards! Most men in Scottish shops wear one and they look lovely.

We leave tomorrow via St James golf course to Inverness and the loch ness monster. Staying overnight in Inverness before moving on down to cotswalds etc.

Well my hour will soon be up. Xx

From York to Edinburgh

Well a ver long day but worth every minute. Departed York by 9 and headed for scotland. Beautiful scenery along the way. Morning tea at scalborough!!!
What a fantastic place you could never explain it to anyone took lots of photos but can't imagine even they will do it justice.

Reluctantly left and headed to Whitby and then for afternoon tea to Berwick another interesting place so much history and managed to buy a necklace there.
Left there to arrive in Edinburgh at around 6. A festival was in full swing and the person we were to get the key for our accommodation missing! Went up the road to a tidal Scottish pub to have a meal and wait but he never turned up so got some accommodation at the travel Lodge and hope he turns up tomorrow as staying 2nights.
